The latest LTU technology represents an evolution of the airMAX technology and is based on Ubiquiti’s proprietary chipset, which uses the LTU protocol. With increased modulation and spectral efficiency, LTU provides higher throughput.

Spectral Efficiency: LTU’s high efficiency allows more traffic to be transmitted on the same frequency compared to airMAX — “more bits per hertz.”

Compatibility Note: For a relay connection, if one side uses an airMAX antenna and the other side uses LTU, the link will not work. Their protocols differ and are incompatible with each other.
